Suspended Open Shelving

This was a fun project that was actually pretty simple. The black shelf supports look like metal and has fooled several people. In reality it is square pieces of oak that we painted black. I got part of an old oak coffee table that someone threw in the trash. I cut it down to size and made the supports. We added 1×8 pine boards for the shelves and attached it to the underneath surface of our kitchen cabinets. The cabinets, the old, ugly, 80’s oak cabinets. This project was really an attempt to hide the cabinets. The wife did a brilliant job with black butcher paper and some delicate artwork to tape over the front surface. Very happy with this one.
